About SAPA
For 30 years, the South African Principals Association (SAPA) has been a driving force in empowering school leaders across the country. Established in 1995, SAPA provides a dynamic platform for principals to engage in professional development, exchange best practices, and advocate for policies that elevate the quality of education. With a nationwide network of over 1,400 members, SAPA is committed to equipping educational leaders with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to drive meaningful change in schools and communities.
As an independent organisation, SAPA remains free from political and union affiliations, allowing principals to engage with both major teacher unions and SAPA itself. Operating through elected executive committees in each province, SAPA fosters collaboration and professional growth through mentorship programs, leadership training, and strategic initiatives. These efforts not only strengthen individual principals but also amplify their collective voice when engaging with provincial education departments, ensuring they have the influence needed to shape the future of education.
